Here are 8 of the top Elysia products. We’re presenting them in a random order, as we aren’t ranking them from best to worst.
Rackmount 19″ Units
1. Elysia Alpha Compressor
Alpha compressors from this manufacturer offer a range of advanced features, including switchable feedback and feed-forward gain-control circuit paths, adjustable low- and high-pass sidechain filters, parallel processing, stereo and M/S (Mid/Side) modes, channel linking, transformer-based coloration (which can be bypassed), soft clippers, and audio path filters.
While the Alpha is primarily marketed as a mastering compressor, it’s also well-suited for use as a stereo or dual mono dynamics processor during tracking and mixing.
The top row of controls lets you adjust threshold, attack, release, and ratio, with the last three controls emphasizing the lower value ranges. You’ll also find three push-button switches in this top row.
On the second row, you can activate and shape separate filters for both the audio path and the internal sidechain. Each channel’s sidechain filter can be set as either a highpass or lowpass filter, adjustable between 30 Hz and 3,300 Hz, and can be bypassed as needed.
The third row of controls allows for parallel compression, makeup gain, soft clipping, and signal coloration. Push-buttons for direct and compressed signals, along with a rotary mix control, let you blend unprocessed and compressed audio in any proportion you like.
After the compressor circuitry, a rotary control allows you to adjust makeup gain by up to 12 dB. The Alpha is an outstanding mastering compressor—if you have the budget for such a high-end piece of gear.

2. Elysia xfilter
The XFilter features four bands and serves as a “Class A stereo equalizer.” With this unit, a single set of controls manages both the left and right channels. Both channels are stereo-linked and have detented controls, making it easy to achieve precise and recallable equalization settings. While you can run a mono signal through one channel, the device is not designed to function as a dual mono equalizer.
The XFilter truly excels when connected to a stereo channel output from a sound card, plugged into an analog mixing console, or integrated into a mastering setup. Elysia conducted computer testing on the potentiometers used in the unit, resulting in a typical channel match within 0.1 decibels—ensuring outstanding consistency.
There are four equalizer bands: a low shelf (20 Hz to 900 Hz), a low mid-band (45 Hz to 2.2 kHz) with selectable wide or narrow Q (0.5 or 1.0), a high mid-band (300 Hz to 16 kHz) also with selectable Q, and a high shelf (700 Hz to 28 kHz).
Additionally, the low and high shelves can be switched to operate as low-cut and high-cut filters, adding flexibility to the design. A single button also activates a passive high-end boost, creating a subtle resonant peak at 12 kHz with a gentle roll-off at 17 kHz.

- 100% Class-A topology
- True stereo link
- High and low shelf filter
- Resonance-capable highpass and lowpass filter
- Two parametric mids plus switchable Q

3. Elysia musEQ
The concept behind the Elysia musEQ is to combine outstanding sound-shaping capabilities with perfectly matched parameters, helping users achieve their desired results quickly and precisely. Thanks to the wide control ranges and unique Elysia features, the musEQ is versatile enough for any recording or mixing scenario, while its stepped controllers make it especially well-suited for mastering.
Each of the two channels features three parametric bands with switchable Q settings. There are also two outer bands designed as low and high shelves, each with an extra resonance peak, which can also be switched into low or high cut modes.
The musEQ offers several gain controls, each allowing you to switch between boost and cut modes. This results in a finely resolved control range and twice as many settings as before. You can also switch the two channels to provide stronger signal coloration, enhancing the musical character of your composition.
MusEQ is built using discrete analog technology throughout its entire circuit. From start to finish, single transistors operate in pure Class-A mode, and even the power supply uses discrete circuits for uncompromising analog quality.

4. Elysia xpressor
A dynamic processor like the Xpressor is incredibly versatile. In addition to compressing and controlling transients, it can also be used to shape sounds. Unlike some compressors that sound nearly the same no matter how you set the controls, the Xpressor responds clearly to every adjustment you make. This makes it a truly flexible tool that’s a pleasure to use, as you can easily hear the impact of your changes.
It’s no surprise that Elysia units have become a staple in mastering studios around the world. Their outstanding build quality ensures that they will enhance your music for decades to come.
The Elysia Xpressor features stepped pots with 41 distinct positions each. This makes it simple to recall exact settings and easy to experiment with new ones. Instead of guessing where the knob was last set, the Xpressor makes the process straightforward and precise.
With parallel compression, you can blend compressed and uncompressed signals effortlessly. The Elysia Xpressor includes this feature as standard. Sometimes called “New York Compression,” this technique helps you preserve the subtle details of your performance while keeping the dynamics under control. The Xpressor is yet another impressive unit from Elysia that lets you creatively shape your sound!

5. Elysia xpressor neo 500
Since its debut in 2010, the Xpressor has earned a reputation as one of the world’s most advanced compression products—at a remarkably accessible price point—and has been embraced by studios everywhere. Now, Elysia’s renowned compressor has been re-engineered and refined, delivering truly impressive results.
The new hardware design brings enhanced depth, improved transparency, and more pronounced three-dimensional processing. Compared to the original, the Elysia Xpressor NEO offers a wider range of sounds and more versatile functionality.
To offer users even greater sonic depth, Elysia has completely redesigned the circuit. The NEO introduces a new level of audio processing with its innovative stereo width and phantom center features—core elements of Elysia’s philosophy. These enhancements are inspired by the purist architecture of their flagship Alpha compressor, while preserving the beloved features of the original Xpressor.
The Xpressor NEO is a significant evolution from its predecessor, providing audio enthusiasts and recording artists with a powerful tool to shape sounds exactly as they imagine.
The new faceplates are less reflective, giving users a clearer view of potentiometer settings. Additionally, the cut edges have been moved from the center of the faceplate to the sides during milling. This subtle change makes the edges more distinctive and allows them to reflect studio lighting more effectively.

6. Elysia nvelope 500
It’s important to note that, unlike a compressor—which relies on signal levels to determine when to start processing—the Nvelope shapes sound regardless of audio level. This means you don’t have to worry about threshold controls at all.
Depending on the mode you select, the front panel controls work differently. For example, in Full Range or Dual Band mode, the Attack control either boosts or reduces the attack of your signals. In EQ mode, the same control acts as a shelving boost or cut for the selected high frequency.
Similarly, in Dual Band mode, the Freq A (frequency attack) knob lets you choose the frequency where attack processing begins. In EQ mode, this knob selects the frequency for the high-shelf EQ filter. The Sustain controls work in a similar way: they either give you EQ control over the low end or let you adjust how long a signal sustains.
In many ways, the Nvelope is easier to use than some compressors. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll find it intuitive and versatile. And while the EQ isn’t designed for forensic precision, it can still enhance your sound in a very musical and natural way.
Thanks to its discrete design, excellent build quality, and modern look, Elysia’s Nvelope stands out from the many retro-style products flooding the pro audio hardware market today. Equipment like the Nvelope can be an extremely useful addition to any setup.

7. Elysia karacter 500
Featuring vibrant colors, the Karacter 500 is an eye-catching unit. It delivers mastering-grade saturation, tube-inspired distortion, and glorious sonic destruction—all in one box, covering the full spectrum of sound. These elusive and highly sought-after styles of tonal coloration are no longer limited to racks of outboard gear.
Thanks to the unit’s discrete Class-A topology, even the most lo-fi sounds benefit from the Karacter’s high-end features. Make your tracks stand out or completely transform them—it’s all a matter of character.
Every aspect of this product—sound, features, circuitry, components, design, materials, and manufacturing—has been thoroughly refined until no further improvements could be made. Almost every part is custom-made, with most elements tailored to meet each customer’s specific requirements and designs.
Asymmetrical clipping effects, like those found in the Karacter 500, add subtle (or not so subtle) coloration and thickness to your music. In this mode, the curve is soft and emphasizes irregular harmonics (such as h3, h5, and more). Using the mix controls, you can blend different levels of saturation with your dry signal for maximum integrity.
Ideally, you should try this device yourself to see if it delivers the sound you’re after. We found it extremely versatile, easy to use, sonically satisfying, and a lot of fun to work with.
